HELEN FEILER - Paintings and Drawings

An exhibition of paintings and drawings by artist Helen Feiler, derived mainly from time spent working on the Kenyan island of Lamu on the eastern coast of Africa, where she painted regularly for 20 years. Helen, the daughter of artists Paul Feiler and June Miles, has exhibited widely, including at Redfern Gallery, London, and is also well known for the bold sculptural jewelry produced at her studio and gallery in Newlyn from 1998.

Based in Penzance, Bo Hilton's practice deals with the conceptual and poetic possibilities of the medium of painting. His approach relies on a process of applying, removing, then re-applying paint in diverse ways until the painting begins to speak for itself. He believes the painting should work as a whole in terms of colour harmony and balance of forms and is particularly interested in the resulting satisfaction of the eye as it moves around each individual painting, weaving connections between memory, space and time.
